Nearly a third of the money in Houston’s Action Plan for Disaster Recovery is earmarked for housing repair. Houston City Council voted Wednesday to approve the plan, which was first drawn up after the derecho and Hurricane Beryl last year.
The city received nearly 315 million dollars in federal funding for long-term recovery efforts. There was no money allocated for housing repair at first, but amendment in June allocated 50 million dollars towards housing repairs. Another amendment on Wednesday doubled the amount to 100 million dollars.
