San Antonio City Council seems unenthusiastic about moving the city’s elections from May to November in odd-numbered years.
A change in state law this year enabled Dallas to move its election date. Other cities can also take advantage of the law, but the deadline to do so is December 31st.
Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones says the change would save the city a million dollars and boost voter turnout. Some council members say voters should have a say in the matter. City Council will vote on the proposal on December 18th.
