Each of the top two contenders in the Texas Republican primary for the US Senate claims to be the one who will help GOP candidates down the ballot. Attorney General Ken Paxton says he will solidify and excite the Republican base.
Incumbent Senator John Cornyn says he’ll have the support of moderate and swing GOP voters who may be put off by Paxton’s ethical troubles. Paxton leads Cornyn in the latest polls, with US Representative Wesley Hunt of Houston running a distant third. The primary election is on March 3rd.
