Hidalgo County’s top elected official says visitors who live in south Texas during the winter are eligible to get COVID-19 vaccinations while they are here.

County Judge Richard Cortez tells KGBT-TV that winter Texans are considered residents of the county and do qualify to get vaccines locally.

However, Cortez says the visitors will have to wait in line like anyone else. He says the county doesn’t have the resources to hold clinics in every RV park or vacation community that requests one.
