Travis County announced it is launching a new text system to notify residents of burn bans. Starting June 1st, the Fire Marshal’s Office will move the burn ban notification system.
Residents can opt into alerts with the new system by texting TCBURNBAN to 888777. The service is free and gives updates on when a burn ban is issued or lifted and when a Red Flag Warning is issued.
The county said residents will only get messages related to burn bans and Red Flag Warnings in Travis County.
