Court: No Straight-Ticket Voting In Texas In November Elections

Straight-ticket voting won’t be allowed in Texas in the November 3rd election, per a ruling from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

A federal judge in Laredo ruled last week that a new state law against straight-ticket voting would endanger voters by causing longer and slower lines at polling places during the pandemic.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton asked the appeals court for an emergency stay of the ruling. On Wednesday, the appeals court said it was too late for election officials to make the necessary changes before Election Day.
