A South Texas Republican has joined congressional Democrats in a vote to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies.

Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz joined 16 other Republicans in voting for the three-year extension Thursday. The measure passed on a 230-196 vote and now heads to the Senate.

De La Cruz issued a statement saying her support of the measure was in the best interest of South Texas families who rely on the credits.
