Defense Attorney Seeks 800-Member Jury Pool For Death Penalty Trial

A defense attorney wants to have a deep jury pool for an upcoming death penalty trial in Hidalgo County. The attorney for Carlos Antonio Cardenas filed a motion asking the court to call 800 potential jurors for the upcoming capital murder trial.

Cardenas is accused of stabbing and killing two people at a Motel 6 in McAllen on March 18th, 2023. A trial date has not been set, but the next hearing in the case is set for June 11th.
