A South Texas doctor has been sentenced to ten years in federal prison following his conviction on healthcare fraud charges. Jorge Zamora Quezada was found guilty of misdiagnosing thousands of patients at his Edinburg clinic in 2020.
Investigators say he collected millions of dollars by filing fraudulent claims, while his patients often suffered side effects like strokes, liver damage and debilitating pain.
Quezada was given credit for seven years of time served during a hearing yesterday. He was also ordered to pay over 28-million dollars in restitution as part of his sentence.
