A group of Iranian hackers is being indicted for allegedly orchestrating a cyber piracy campaign backed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard.

The Justice Department says the group of 17 hackers targeted U.S. universities and companies in a years-long campaign, and attempted to extort HBO for six-million dollars in bitcoin after it stole the media company’s intellectual property.

Nine of the 17 suspects were previously charged for illegally accessing computer systems at dozens of U.S. universities.
