DOJ Sues Georgia Over Its New Voting Laws

The Department of Justice is suing Georgia over its new voting laws. Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the lawsuit today in Washington, DC. Georgia Republicans made changes to its voting laws, including adding ID requirements for absentee ballots and making it illegal for election officials to mail out absentee ballot applications to all voters.

Democrats say they are restrictive measures meant to suppress voting among minorities, while Republicans say the laws will increase voting integrity.
