A Donna man is facing charges after his child suffered a gunshot wound. Thirty-three-year-old Francisco Javier Lopez was arrested yesterday and charged with making a firearm accessible to children.
The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office began investigating on January 18th after a three-year-old was brought to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the leg. The injury reportedly happened while two children were playing in a bedroom that contained a loaded gun.
Investigators say the gun used in the shooting was left in an unlocked box on a nightstand. Bond for Lopez was set at five-thousand dollars.
