Donna Man Jailed In Connection With Drug Death Of Valley Banda Musician

A Donna man has been charged with negligent homicide and several other crimes following the drug death of an Alamo man two weekends ago. 31-year-old Jose Raquel Lerma is accused of selling the drug that led to the death of banda musician 29-year-old Sergio Sanchez, and the hospitalizations of two bandmates and a fourth man.

The four men had taken the drugs in the bathroom of a bar in downtown McAllen early the morning of November 14th and all four suffered an adverse reaction.

The McAllen Monitor reports the drug was a mix of cocaine and fentanyl. The two other banda musicians have since been released from the hospital but the fourth man has not.
