Dozens of people have been arrested by federal immigration authorities during an operation in the Rio Grande Valley.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas announced the results of Operation Pick-Off yesterday. The operation began on Friday and continued through the weekend.
Sixty-five people were arrested for allegedly being in the U.S. illegally after having previously been removed. Many were serving probation after being convicted of human smuggling, drug offenses and other crimes. A total of 78 people were taken into custody.
