The Texas Department of Public Safety is celebrating the opening of a new aircraft hangar in Edinburg. State and local leaders took part in the opening of the hangar at the South Texas International Airport Monday.

The 11-million-dollar facility will be home to two helicopters and an airplane, as well as more than a dozen DPS employees. Officials say it is a major investment in public safety and border security, doubling the size of the agency’s previous hangar.
