The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a weekend crash involving a former Primera city commissioner.
Investigators say a red Chevy Camaro hit a police unit while making a turn at the intersection of Carver and Wilson roads early Saturday morning. The car left the scene but was pulled over a short time later.
Asael Saavedra was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. State investigators are looking into the case because a police car was involved in the crash.
