DPS investigators say a pickup truck was trying to pass another vehicle on a wet Cameron County road when it swerved off the road and smashed into a tree, killing the two men inside. The fiery crash happened on FM 510 just west of Bayview.

The 2007 Toyota Tundra was heading east at around 6:45 Monday morning when the driver tried to pass another vehicle and apparently lost control on the slick pavement. Killed was the driver, 31-year-old Eric Gonzalez and a passenger, 24-year-old Roberto Quezada.
