The early voting period has begun for runoff races for city commission seats in Brownsville and Harlingen.
In Brownsville, voters will choose between Roy De Los Santos or Jessica Puente Bradshaw as the new District 3 commissioner. De Los Santos finished the May 1st election with the most votes – 45 percent. Puente Bradshaw got 38 percent. The District 4 race also remains undecided, with Commissioner Ben Neece facing a challenge from Pedro Cardenas. Cardenas led with 40 percent of the vote with Neece taking 35 percent.
In Harlingen, Frank Morales and Basilio Sanchez are in the runoff in the District 4 contest. Newcomer Morales ended the May 1st election with 46 percent. Sanchez, a former city commissioner, had 29 percent.
