The Edcouch-Elsa school district will be closing one of its middle schools to help close a large budget gap. The district’s board of trustees voted Thursday to close the David Ybarra Middle School campus at the end of the school year.

The decision leaves Carlos Truan Junior High as the only middle school in the district. The closure will reportedly save about 500-thousand dollars a year.
