An Edinburg city council member wants the city’s nepotism policy altered so that his daughter can become a city police officer.
Johnny Garcia says his daughter Lyssa Marie wants to be an Edinburg officer, but the nepotism policy doesn’t allow the city to hire family members of those who sit on the city council.
Garcia says Lyssa Marie has a college degree in Criminal Justice and currently works with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office. The city council may take up the matter in its meeting today.
