Police in Edinburg will soon be using drones to help answer emergency calls. The police department is launching a Drone as a First Responder program using funding from the U.S. Treasury’s Asset Forfeiture Program.

Drones with high-definition cameras and thermal night vision will be deployed to help the police respond to calls about crashes, criminal activity, and search and rescue operations. It will be the first DFR program in the Rio Grande Valley.
