Edinburg Police Probing Deadly Crash Involving Wrong-Way Driver

Edinburg police are awaiting toxicology tests as they investigate the factors involved in a 2-vehicle wreck that killed a wrong-way driver and the driver he crashed into.

20-year-old Alex Jaramillo was driving south in the northbound lanes of I-69C when he crashed his Nissan Sentra head-on into a Chevrolet Volt north of Schunior Street.

Jaramillo was killed instantly. A passenger remains hospitalized in critical condition. The driver of the Volt, 31-year-old Efrain Guerrero, died of his injuries at the hospital.

Investigators are working to learn if alcohol may have been a factor in the early Sunday morning wreck.
