Edinburg Woman Killed When Hit By SUV


Edinburg police are investigating the circumstances around an accident in which a woman was hit by a car and killed.

Police say 26-year-old Samantha Rosales of Edinburg was walking along North M Road, south of East Monte Cristo Monday night, when she was struck by a Ford Edge SUV. The driver stopped and called for help. Arriving paramedics found Rosales dead at the scene.

It was the third time on four days in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Hidalgo County. Monday morning, a man who had just been let out of the Hidalgo County jail was struck by a van and killed as he crossed El Cibolo Road just west of the jail. And early Saturday morning, a 19-year-old San Juan woman was struck and killed by a car driven by another San Juan woman who kept on driving. The driver later turned herself in.
