Eli Lilly Says COVID Antibody Cocktail Is 70% Effective

Eli Lilly says its new antibody cocktail could greatly bring down hospitalizations for high-risk COVID-19 patients.

The drug company said Tuesday it’s new medicine bamlanivimab, when combined with etesevimab was extremely effective in high-risk COVID patients. Both drugs are monoclonal antibodies that mimic natural immune system responses the body uses to fight the virus.

Eli Lilly says in a late-stage study on over 500 COVID patients, the antibody cocktail was 70-percent effective and that none of the patients who received the cocktail died.
