The Texas Department of Transportation is ready to start a three-and-a-half-year project to widen a Hidalgo County roadway.
Construction on the Conway Avenue expansion is set to begin on Wednesday. The two-mile segment between Griffin Parkway and Three-Mile Road will be expanded from four to six lanes.
The work will also improve drainage, create a center median and add sidewalks. The project will cost about 32-million dollars.
