Texas lawmakers are poised to approve billions in new incentives for the TV and movie industry. Republicans want it to go to conservative and faith-based projects. Experts say that sector of the industry is surging.
Texas Tech pop culture historian Rob Weiner says, with the rise of streaming services, there are markets for Christian filmmakers. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick said in a statement that the incentives would be a way to export “Texas faith and family values” to the rest of America.
