A federal appeals court next year will hear a case involving a Texas law that requires schools to display the Ten Commandments.

On January 20th, the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit will hear both the Texas case and a similar one happening in Louisiana. In response to a lawsuit from the ACLU, a federal judge in August found the Texas law unconstitutional and temporarily blocked it from taking full effect.

The ruling applied only to the 11 school districts named in the lawsuit. Many districts are implementing law or plan to do so.
