Federal Judge Seizes Land Near Mission For Border Wall Construction

A federal judge is ordering a South Texas family to turn over land they own to the U.S. government for the construction of the border wall.

U.S. District Court Judge Micaela Alvarez announced Tuesday that the family must immediately give possession of more than six-acres of land near Mission to the government.

The family has been fighting the government’s attempt to take the land since last year. The Biden administration has ordered a halt to all construction on the border wall, but U.S. Customs and Border Protection says the White House has not paused court cases to acquire land for that construction.
