Feds Make More Room In Donna For Crush Of Young Migrants

Migrant children are beginning to be moved out of CBP and Border Patrol custody faster as the result of several new emergency intake centers going up across Texas – including in Donna.

Federal officials Tuesday opened the previously announced Delphi intake facility – accommodating the transfer of an initial 375 migrant teenagers from CBP-operated processing and holding centers.

The Delphi facility is run by the Department of Health and Human Services and can handle up to 1,500 children from 13 to 17 years old. An HHS statement says the soft-sided Delphi center and several other similar facilities have recently opened in Texas to limit the young migrants’ time in CBP and Border Patrol facilities.
