The U.S. fertility rate is at a record low. New data by the National Center for Health Statistics shows the number of births from women of childbearing age fell by one percent in 2025 compared to the previous year.
The rate for teenagers dropped by seven percent. The fertility rate has been falling steadily for nearly two decades in the U.S. It’s down by about 23 percent since 2007.
