First Cases Of South African COVID Strain Found In South Carolina

Officials in South Carolina say the highly transmissible COVID-19 variant from South Africa has been found in their state. They would not release the names of the two people infected, but did say they are both adults with no recent travel history.

There are a trio of COVID-19 “variants of concern” spreading worldwide. After the report from South Carolina, all three have now infected residents inside the United States.
