First Juvenile Court Created In Cameron County

A new state district court is being created in Cameron County. The Texas Legislature this last session passed a bill creating the 484th District Court that will specialize in the processing of juvenile cases.

The new Cameron County juvenile court, the county’s ninth, will operate in a similar manner as the 449th District Court in Hidalgo County established in 2008. Candidates for judge of the new court will be on the ballot for the March 1st 2022 primary election.

House Bill 3774 that created the new juvenile court was co-sponsored in the House by Ryan Guillen and in the Senate by Juan Hinojosa.
