Former Asst. Hidalgo County DA Sentenced To Probation For False Statement


A former assistant district attorney in Hidalgo County will not be going to prison for making a false statement during a federal bribery investigation. Cynthia Alanis was sentenced to one year of probation Thursday.

Alanis had pleaded guilty in February for her role in a bribery scheme linked to her brother. Roel Alanis is facing sentencing next month after pleading guilty to six counts of bribery and one count of conspiracy earlier this year.
