A former Edcouch alderman has been sentenced to just over a year in prison for accepting a bribe. Rene Adan Flores was sentenced yesterday in U.S. District Court in McAllen.
Flores was arrested last year after investigators accused him of being part of a kickback scheme connected to a Brownsville business. Flores reportedly received two thousand dollars for his role in the scheme. He pled guilty to a charge of conspiracy to defraud the United States in January.
