A third candidate has entered the race to become Edinburg’s next mayor. Former city council member Juan Tomas Garcia has reportedly filed paperwork to become a candidate. He served as Place Three city councilman and mayor pro-tem between 2019 and 2023.

Former Mayor Richard Molina and attorney Omar Ochoa are also running to replace Mayor Ramiro Garza, who announced earlier this year that he is not running for re-election.
