TV pitchman Vincent Shlomi, known as the “ShamWow Guy,” is running for congress in Texas. State election records show he’s filed for an historically-conservative district north of Austin that includes the area around Fort Hood. Shlomi rose to fame for his infomercials, where he sold both an absorbent towel and a kitchen tool called The Slap Chop. In 2009, the 61-year old was arrested for punching a prostitute in a Miami hotel room.
