A former employee of the Sullivan City government has been arrested and charged with theft by a public servant.

Former city manager Ana Mercado allegedly cut a check to herself in 2022 for 25-thousand dollars. She claimed the money was reimbursement for payments to three bands, but an investigation found that nearly four-thousand dollars was not accounted for. She was arrested on Friday and then released the next day on a one-thousand-dollar cash bond.
