Gonzalez Wants A Way For Asylum Seekers To Apply In Their Countries

U.S. Congressman Vicente Gonzalez says a way needs to be devised for Central Americans to petition for asylum from their own countries.

The Rio Grande Valley Democrat says human smugglers are getting rich by charging asylum-seekers close to ten-thousand dollars to be smuggled across the border.

Gonzalez says a U.S. government-sponsored asylum seeking processing center needs to be set up in Central America where migrants can apply for asylum before they hire a smuggler to help them make the trek to cross the border into the U.S.
