Authorities are blaming dust for an evacuation of the Hidalgo County Courthouse. A fire alarm went off at the courthouse just after noon Thursday.
The building was evacuated, and the alarm was traced to a stairwell on the seventh floor. The Edinburg Fire Department said the alarm was triggered by fine dust created during construction in the building.
Contractors were instructed to clean the work zone and take measures to prevent future false alarms.
