Hidalgo County DA Files Motion For Jury Trial For Edinburg’s Mayor’s Voter Fraud Case

Hidalgo County’s district attorney is ready to proceed to trial in a voter fraud case involving Edinburg’s mayor.

The D.A.’s office filed a motion Tuesday to have the case against Mayor Richard Molina set for a jury trial as soon as possible. The motion stated that the nature of the charges and Molina’s position as a public servant warranted a speedy trial.

Molina was originally charged in the case in 2019, but a trial scheduled for June of last year was delayed due to the pandemic.
