Hidalgo County Judge Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez has contracted the coronavirus.

Cortez had gotten tested for COVID-19 after he says a family member tested positive, and in a news release today, Cortez said his test came back positive.

The 77-year-old Cortez says he is asymptomatic so far, but because he’s contagious he’ll be isolating in his home for the next 14 days. Cortez has already been working mostly from home since the pandemic arrived in the Valley, and he says “this goes to show how contagious this virus can be.”
