Hidalgo County Judges Meet Virtually To Discuss Court Procedures

Judges in Hidalgo County will continue to hold most hearings and trials virtually. The county’s Board of Judges held an emergency meeting Thursday to determine if they would resume in-person courtroom proceedings now that Governor Abbott has lifted the state’s COVID-19 restrictions.

The assembled judges decided to keep their courtrooms closed until they see if there is a spike in virus cases due to the governor’s decision. They agreed it would be better to wait until most of their courtroom staff are vaccinated before resuming in-person activities.
