By Hidalgo County leaders are proud of the progress the county has made over the last decade. Judge Richard Cortez joined other county leaders for a State of the County presentation Wednesday night at the McAllen Convention Center.
Among the accomplishments noted during the event were the construction of the new county courthouse, road and drainage improvements, and enhanced recreational opportunities.
Cortez also said that more needs to be done to eliminate poverty and attract new economic development to the region. County leaders had not held a State of the County presentation since 2013.
