Officials in Hidalgo County are asking their residents to follow health guidelines to help them end a surge of new COVID-19 cases. County Judge Richard Cortez was joined by several other public health and safety officials during a virtual meeting yesterday.
Cortez said too many people were acting like the virus was no longer a problem in the area and warned that even more people could die. More than 400 people tested positive for the virus Tuesday, followed by nearly 700 new cases being reported on both Wednesday and yesterday.
Cortez says he doesn’t plan on shutting down more businesses, but the county will hold a seminar to show business owners how to operate safely.
