Hidalgo County Reports A Rare Day Of Zero COVID Deaths

For the first time in almost four months, no one has died from COVID-19 in Hidalgo County.

The county heath department’s daily COVID report for Tuesday shows zero deaths. You have to go back to July 22nd for the last time Hidalgo County recorded no residents died from COVID-19. The COVID death toll for Hidalgo County stands at 3,483 – the fifth-highest in the state. County health officials, though, continue to see dozens of new coronavirus cases a day.

The majority of newly-infected persons are school-age residents, and most in that group are under age 12 – children who just recently have been approved for the Pfizer vaccine.

In addition as of Tuesday, 68 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19, including five children. However for the sixth straight day, no children are in hospital ICU’s.
