HISD Teachers Call Out Sick In Protest Of School Reopenings

A group of Houston ISD teachers are calling out sick in protest of school reopenings. Educators for a Safe Reopening says the sick-out happened Thursday so teachers could go get a coronavirus test and a check out.

They’re demanding HISD cap class sizes at 15, require all meals be eaten outdoors, and make sure it’s possible to discipline students for violating mask rules. The group is also pushing for schools to be closed if someone tests positive for the virus.
