A homeless man faces charges after reportedly choking an HPD K-9 to the point of unconsciousness.

Officers responded on Sunday to a report about a man refusing to leave a vacant unit in an apartment complex on Holly Hall Street near NRG Park. They found a suspect identified as Talmadge Blount in the apartment and refusing to comply with the officers’ commands to leave.

A K-9 was sent in after him, and police say Blount choked the dog until officers tased him. Blount is charged with interference with a police service animal.
