A woman is recovering after being wounded in an officer-involved shooting in McAllen. Officers were called to the 900 block of East Expressway 83 Tuesday morning after a complaint about a woman standing in front of a dental office.

Investigators say the woman walked away from officers and began waving a knife, at one point holding it to her throat. A police dog was released, and the woman allegedly stabbed it before being shot by a police officer.

Fifty-four-year-old Latonia Wallace was taken to the hospital for treatment of a wound to her left buttock. The police dog was also receiving emergency medical care after reportedly being stabbed in the eye.
