(AP) — Hospital officials say a fire at an elementary school in Niger’s capital has killed 20 children. It was not immediately known what started the fire on Tuesday afternoon but authorities said that high winds in the area allowed the blaze to spread rapidly.

Niger’s prime minister and interior minister visited the scene of the tragedy and paid their condolences to the victims’ grieving families.
