A bill that would limit out-of-state campaign contributions to state and local races in Texas now has the approval of the House.

State representatives passed the bill on Wednesday to cap out-of-state political donations at five thousand dollars for a statewide election, 25-hundred dollars for a district office, and a thousand dollars for a county office.

At present there are no limits on campaign contributions from any individuals or political action committees. The bill would place no limits on in-state contributions.
